Paediatric Oncology and Haematology

The Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Department is at the forefront of the treatment of cancer, haematological diseases and transplant of haematopoietic progenitors (known as ‘bone marrow transplant’) in childhood and adolescence. Of every 1200 new cases of childhood cancer detected every year in Spain, around 250 are diagnosed in Catalonia.

The National Health System has designated the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital as a reference centre (CSUR) in Neuroblastoma, Childhood sarcomas, and Paediatric allogeneic stem cells. In addition, the same hospital has been designated as an ERN in Haematological diseases (EuroBloodNet) by the European Commission.
