Core laboratory The labs are structured around one large central, highly automated laboratory (the Core), which includes a communal area for receiving samples and a number of cross-departmental platforms to optimise technological resources and knowledge. Tertiary care We are national and international leaders in key areas of expertise, most notably providing extraordinary tertiary care, which represents 70% of all the tests in the service portfolio. Research and teaching The Vall d’Hebron lab professionals generate knowledge through in-house basic and applied research projects. They also actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training house officers and providing in-service training for all lab staff, thus ensuring a high level of competency and constant refreshing. Research and innovation as our flagship The Vall d’Hebron Clinical Laboratories carry out research, development and innovation tasks as part of their mission and as a key instrument for maintaining their high diagnostic capacity. This function is carried out by the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) research groups in different fields. Discover more
