Accreditations and certificates

Vall d’Hebron clinical laboratories have UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 certification and UNE-EN ISO 15189:2023 accreditation.

Core laboratory

The labs are structured around one large central, highly automated laboratory (the Core), which includes a communal area for receiving samples and a number of cross-departmental platforms to optimise technological resources and knowledge.

Tertiary care

We are national and international leaders in key areas of expertise, most notably providing extraordinary tertiary care, which represents 70% of all the tests in the service portfolio.

Research and teaching

The Vall d’Hebron lab professionals generate knowledge through in-house basic and applied research projects. They also actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training house officers and providing in-service training for all lab staff, thus ensuring a high level of competency and constant refreshing.

We place the patient at the heart of it all

In terms of institutional values and culture, the Vall d’Hebron Laboratories offer, above all, an integrated service that provides accurate and essential information to our clients for screening, diagnosis and follow-up of diseases, offering the most advanced knowledge, thereby ensuring our patients’ satisfaction and our sustainability.

We place great importance on our diagnostic, research innovation and development services as national and international leaders, offering high quality healthcare and technology, and our international recognition as an organisation of excellence.

Research and innovation as our flagship

The Vall d’Hebron Clinical Laboratories carry out research, development and innovation tasks as part of their mission and as a key instrument for maintaining their high diagnostic capacity. This function is carried out by the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) research groups in different fields.
