Mieloma múltiple

El Mieloma múltiple es un tipo de cáncer de la sangre que se origina por una proliferación anómala de células plasmáticas (un tipo de leucocito o defensa del organismo). Estas células plasmáticas pueden lesionar los huesos si crecen mucho y provocar anemia. Al mismo tiempo, son capaces de producir inmunoglobulinas, unas proteínas que en exceso pueden lesionar los riñones y favorecer las infecciones.

El Mieloma múltiple es un tipo de cáncer de la médula ósea que viene dado por la proliferación de células plasmáticas clonales y la producción anómala de inmunoglobulinas (Ig) que son un componente del sistema inmune y pueden detectarse en la sangre y/o orina.
