Dra. Annabella García Morán

My professional activity has been developed mainly in public and state approved hospitals in Asturias and Catalonia health networks for 29 years. I have 12 years of experience with adult patients and 17 years with children, adolescents and their families in Asturias, Tarragona and Barcelona. I have been coordinator of the Therapeutic Community of Avilés from 2004 to 2006.
Since the beginning of 2017 I work at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, I started in the Psicooncologic Service doing psychological support to patients and their families, and teaching residents for 4 years. Since February 2021 I have been working in the Paedopsychiatry Service, which belongs to the Mental Health Service of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. I provide psychological care to children and adolescents undergoing a solid organ transplant process (renal, hepatic, cardiac and/or pulmonary), as well as to their families. I also carry out clinical psychology support with patients diagnosed with diabetes and ADS, from the Paediatric Endocrinology Service, and also care for their families. I carry out the psychological assessment of adolescents with chronic diseases and psychiatric comorbidity, coming from Vall d'Hebron or from another hospital, who follow the Transition Process to the adult health teams of our hospital.
I've been a lecturer of four subjects in the official PIR training of the College of Psychologists of Asturias (1996 - 2000), adjunct lecturer at the Institute of Continuous Training for health professionals Adolfo Posada of Asturias (2000 - 2004) and at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (2018-2021).
I am currently associate lecturer of the Master in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2022 -). I have also carried out the teaching of PIR psychologists from 1997 to 2021, and again since 2024.
I have published in the psychology journal Psicothema and digital publication of the Spanish Association of Primary Care Paediatrics, in Asturias, between 1996 and 2002. I am the author of a chapter in the book ‘Mujer y Discapacidad’ published by the Consejería de Asuntos Sociales del Gobierno del Principado de Asturias in 2002. I have continued to publish in the Journal of Psychiatry and Psychosomatics in 2021 and in the journal Frontiers in Psychology in 2023.
I belong to the Grup de Psiquiatria, Salut Mental i Adiccions del Institut de Recerca de Vall d'Hebron (VHIR) and participate as principal investigator in two research projects on complex chronic paediatric patients.
