Anna Gutiérrez's son was born in November 2019 with a congenital heart disease, for which he was operated on when he was five days old. This experience inspired his mother to write the story based on personal experience ‘We love you, little brave!’, by Edicions Tremendes.

The story explains the whole process of heart disease up to the moment of the operation, and how Osona's family lived it. “I didn't have the need to explain my situation to the world, but I wanted to make known the congenital heart disease”, explains Anna. She assures that, until they were in the situation, they did not know well how to face the problem of her son's heart. Once everything had happened, the family was able to investigate to learn more about congenital heart disease. That's when Anna decided to write her first story.

The illustrations are by Nina Bach, an old classmate of Anna's, who admits that "they helped the story to get the tender tone it had to have”.

All benefits will go to the Vall d'Hebron Pediatric Cardiology Service. ‘We love you, little brave!’ can be found in the municipalities of Vic, Manlleu, Torelló and San Pere de Torelló, or by contacting directly through the Instagram page @petitsvalents_cardiopaties.

'We love you, little brave!' is being a great success. “What excites me the most is when a family explains to me what their children tell them when they explain the story to them. They are the most sincere and the ones that really help you realize that we have achieved the goal that we had set!”, adds Anna.

The book can be found in the Maternal children's store in Vic, Pons Casals pharmacy in Sant Pere de Torelló, Punt Font bookstore in Torelló, Ungles Lourdes nail bar in Manlleu, Anita’s tobacconist in Ripoll, Anna’s super and Serra bookstore in Les Planes d'Hostoles, and Els Pitius children's store, the Copy Shop and Drac bookstore in Olot. In addition, you can also contact directly through the Instagram page @petitsvalents_cardiopaties.

#VHTouchTheHeart

All benefits will go to the #VHTouchTheHeart campaign, which Vall d'Hebron launched last year to raise awareness about the importance of childhood heart disease, as well as highlight the role of the hospital's Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology Service as the center of Catalonia that cares for patients of greater complexity.

This is summarized by Dr. Ferran Rosés, clinical chief of Pediatric Cardiology at the University Hospital, who points out that “raising public awareness about childhood heart disease and contributing to the fact that research advances in this field are the fundamental objectives of the campaign”. Vall d'Hebron has a team of professionals who care for congenital heart disease from fetal life to adulthood and provide comprehensive care in the same center. This offers continuity and ensures the best care during this transition phase. “We are a group fully dedicated to children with heart disease. Our goal is excellence, treating families very well and promoting research to give them a better life”, concludes Rosés.
