Renal System Area

The Renal System Knowledge Area at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital provides comprehensive care for patients with kidney disease, both in outpatient and inpatient settings. Services include outpatient consultations, hospitalization on the eighth floor of the General Hospital, as well as living-donor and deceased-donor kidney transplantation. The area supports patients throughout the course of their disease, from early stages to advanced phases, ensuring personalized therapeutic options aimed at optimizing quality of life.

Working within areas of expertise allows for coordination of hospital-based, home-based, and conservative treatments, optimizing resources and facilitating shared decision-making between professionals and patients. Notable initiatives include the advanced chronic kidney disease consultation, which guides the selection of the most appropriate treatment and educational activities on lifestyle, dietary habits, and treatment adherence, aiming to better control the disease and prevent complications.
