Cover of the Diario de Barcelona, the day after the robbery at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital.
The robbers took away 21 million pesetas in loot, intended to pay the salaries of the center's workers.
It was quarter to eight in the morning of September 29, 1975 when five individuals - three men and two women - entered the administration area of the building, dressed in white coats and masks, as if they were hospital staff. They were armed with pistols and machine guns, and began shooting at the two police officers on guard, injuring them, one of them seriously and who died the next day. The assailants then took the salary envelopes and fled in two cars. Initially, the amount stolen was estimated at 32 million, but in the end it was 21.
