Our work at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) goes beyond basic and translational research; we are leaders in clinical research. Our hospital beds are less than 50 metres from the laboratories and our patients benefit from the research carried out there. This commitment to research is shared by industry leaders, who choose our hospital to carry out their first clinical trials, making us a world-wide benchmark. In the field of cancer, at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) we follow a translational and multidisciplinary research model. Organised into three main programmes (preclinical and translational, clinical and basic technologies), our research focuses on understanding the fundamental biology of human cancer, from cell and molecular biology to genetics and therapeutics. Teaching We generate, transform and transmit knowledge in all areas of health sciences. At the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, our research centres and specialised services work to train tomorrow’s healthcare professionals. We ensure complete and continuous education through various programmes covering university level, residency, specialised training and continuous professional training.
