Radiation Oncologist with a special interest in head and neck cancer, skull base tumors, spinal metastases and high-precision radiation technology including radiosurgery and SBRT

Curriculum

Oncologist specialized in radiotherapy in 2002 at Vall d'Hebron Hospital and doctorate from UAB in 2016. At the end of the residency I spent 3 years doing translational research at the Department of Oncology of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (US) where I worked on modulating the effects of radiation with targeted drugs. In 2006 I returned to the Radiation Oncology Department at Vall d'Hebron Hospital until today.
My daily work is focused on the treatment of head and neck cancer and on techniques with high precision of irradiation. Initially treating brain metastases with radiosurgery and gradually opening new areas with hypofractionated techniques, vertebral metastases, skull base and functional disorders, reirradiations. We are one of the few centers that currently have committees dedicated to brain and spinal metastases in order to offer patients the best possible treatment and recovery options.
Until 2019, I participated in the safety nucleus in radiotherapy dedicated to detecting incidents that could affect the safety of radiation treatments in order to be able to formulate approaches that could avoid them.
I regularly participate in clinical trials evaluating the role of irradiation in my areas of interest in order to be able to offer the latest innovations to patients receiving treatment.
