La Dra. Amanda Rodríguez Urrutia és membre del Servei de Salut Mental de l’Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron i membre del grup de recerca en Psiquiatria, Salut Mental i Addiccions del VHIR. La seva inquietud per la investigació l'ha fet aprofundir en les relacions entre el sistema nerviós central i l'autònom i en els mecanismes sistèmics alterats de trastorns mentals com la depressió. Actualment treballa al macroprojecte europeu DISCOvERIE, que investiga els mecanismes cervell-intestinals comuns de patologies com la depressió o la síndrome de l'intestí irritable.
