El proper dimecres 12 de maig a les 16:00h, tindrà lloc un nou Seminari de Recerca Vall d’Hebron a càrrec del Dr. Andrés Antón, responsable de la Unitat de Virus Respiratoris del Servei de Microbiologia de l’Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, i de la Dra. Blanca Borras, especialista del Servei de Medicina Preventiva i Epidemiologia del mateix hospital. Presentaran “Epidemiologia i noves variants de SARS-CoV-2”
En el darrer any, hem pogut veure l'entrada d'un nou virus causant d'una pandèmia, vivint fins a quatre onades pandèmiques, cadascuna d'elles de diferents intensitats, amb lleus canvis en les característiques clíniques i epidemiològiques. Hem pogut observar com els virus que han estat circulant han anat canviant i evolucionant encara que de forma lenta. I és ara, quan la immunitat poblacional es va incrementant amb les campanyes massives de vacunació, quan hem d'estar especialment vigilants a la selecció i circulació de noves variants que podrien estar relacionades amb reinfeccions però sobretot fallides vacunals.

La Dra. Blanca Borras és metge especialista en Medicina Preventiva i Salut Pública, Màster en Salut Pública UPF/UAB. Ara compleix un any com a especialista al Servei de Medicina Preventiva i Epidemiologia de l'Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron, on centra la seva tasca en mesures de prevenció i control de la pandèmia de COVID-19. En l’àmbit docent, és professora associada de Medicina Preventiva i Epidemiologia de la Facultat de Medicina de la UAB.
El Dr. Andrés Antón és biòleg especialista en microbiologia i responsable de la Unitat de Virus Respiratoris del Servei de Microbiologia de l’Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron.
