El Congrés Americà de Radiologia RSNA’2017 i la revista Aunt Minnie destaquen un treball en Radiologia Pediàtrica liderat pel Dr. Joaquim Piqueras Pardellans, del Servei de Radiologia Pediàtrica de la Unitat de Diagnòstic per la Imatge de Vall d’Hebron. El treball es basa en l’estimació del pes i l’edat gestacional en nadons prematurs, que es pot extreure de mesures fetes en la primera imatge radiogràfica del tòrax.
És una recerca original que proporciona un nou i simple mètode per a estimar l’edat gestacional, el pes i la severitat de prematuritat en els nadons segons les mides del tòrax, obtingudes de les imatges radiogràfiques (rajos X).
Aquesta tècnica ja s’està aplicant a l’Hospital Vall d’Hebron, ja que genera informació de ràpid accés segons l’edat gestacional dels nadons, essencial per un primer diagnòstic en nens críticament malalts que freqüentment no tenen informació clínica disponible.
L’encarregat de presentar el treball a Chicago el proper 26 de novembre és el resident de l’Hospital Dr. Joan-Albert Prat Matifoll, de l’equip del Departament de Diagnòstic per la Imatge.
