Neurorehabilitation Area

The Neurorehabilitation Knowledge Area at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital is dedicated to comprehensive care for adult patients, with a multidisciplinary team including rehabilitation physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, dietitians, clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, orthopedic technicians, patients, and caregivers. Care is provided at the General Hospital, the Traumatology and Rehabilitation Hospital, the Burn Unit, and the Rehabilitation Day Hospital, covering acute, subacute, and chronic phases for both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring continuity of care and adaptation to the complexity of each case.

The area integrates care, teaching, and research, highlighting humanization initiatives such as the Therapeutic Order program with adolescents, and innovative projects incorporating new technologies: virtual reality, transcranial stimulation, robotics, and telerehabilitation. An innovative ecosystem is also being validated, integrating virtual and augmented reality applications, smartwatches, and AI-based assistants, with the goal of optimizing resources and improving treatment outcomes for stroke patients.
