The birth plan is a document where you can express your preferences and desires for the birth of your baby. Although circumstances may change, professionals will inform you and ask for your consent for the necessary interventions. You can draw up this plan with the help of midwives during pregnancy, and this document is not a closed document, and you can make the changes you consider throughout the process. When you enter the hospital, you will have a leading midwife to accompany you. During childbirth, you will be asked for consent for procedures such as the endovenous pathway, vital constant taking and vaginal explorations, always providing information to help you make informed decisions. The midwives will ensure your autonomy at this time.
Being accompanied by a person of your trust who can support you and help you during childbirth can be useful. It has been shown that the continuous support of your partner or someone you trust reduces the need to use pharmacological treatments to relieve pain.
