Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive type of neoplasm and, in many cases, it is diagnosed at an advanced stage or during a phase of rapid tumour progression. For this reason, the main priority in this type of cancer is to reduce the time between diagnosis and treatment as much as possible, in order to improve survival.
When symptoms raise suspicion of pancreatic cancer, the diagnostic work-up should include the following tests:
The results of these tests are reviewed by a multidisciplinary committee to determine whether additional complementary tests are needed and to define the most appropriate treatment for the patient.
At Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, we have a Multidisciplinary Pancreatic Cancer Committee, made up of professionals from different specialties, who assess each patient’s clinical situation and agree on the best therapeutic option.
