Sra. Laura Vidal Fornells
I have a bachelor’s degree in Genetics since 2018 and a master’s degree in Translational Biomedical Research since 2019 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I started in the world of biomedical research with the investigation group of Bioengineering, Cell Therapy and Surgery in Congenital Malformations of the Research Institute of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (VHIR) in 2017 with an internship. I am currently working as a researcher in this group and participating in various national and international projects. At the same time, I am developing my doctoral thesis focused on the study of musculoskeletal pathologies through their study in animal models that mimic human pathology and possible treatments based on regenerative medicine for tissue regeneration and functional recovery.
Curriculum
Bachelor’s Degree in Genetics since 2018 and master’s degree in Translational Biomedical Research since 2019 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I am currently a doctoral student in the Biomedicine program from the University of Barcelona, in the line of research in Biomedical Engineering, and I am developing my doctoral thesis in the investigation group of Bioengineering, Cell Therapy and Surgery in Congenital Malformations of the Research Institute of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (VHIR).
I have been working as a researcher in Biomedicine for the last 4 years. I have participated in different projects, both national (FIS, MISSIONS) and international (H2020), collaborating with different research centers, hospitals and universities. I have also published some articles in international journals.
I have experience in the field of Regenerative Medicine and in the use of different analytical methods and assays. I have strong experience with cell cultures as well as small animal models that reproduce human pathologies. I also have experience with the use of laboratory techniques used in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and for both in vitro and in vivo studies. In the last months I have focused mainly on the study of the mechanisms of muscle and tendon injury and repair with the purpose to develop new pharmacological- and stem cell-based therapeutic approaches applied to skeletal muscle and tendon healing.
