Dr. Alejandro Daniel Frino-García, Pneumòleg investigador en Tabaquisme de l'IDIBAPS-HCB del Servei de Pneumologia i Al·lèrgia Respiratòria, adscrit a la Consulta Multidisciplinària d'Alta Complexitat de Tabaquisme de l'Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. Membre del Grup de Treball de Tabaquisme de la Societat Catalana de Pneumologia (SEPAR) i de la Societat Catalana d'Atenció i Tractament del Consum del Tabac (SCATT).
Al tabaquisme convencional, les patologies associades apareixien després de dècades d'exposició. La irrupció de les cigarretes electròniques està modificant aquest patró. S‟observa un inici més precoç de la dependència, amb impacte directe sobre cervells en desenvolupament, i un augment de casos aguts d‟afectació respiratòria greu en població jove.La suposada menor toxicitat contrasta amb una evidència clínica creixent: dependència primerenca, consum dual i danys respiratoris i cardiovasculars.

En aquest context de canvi accelerat en els patrons de consum, és imprescindible identificar i abordar la dependència de nicotina en totes les formes.La ponència revisarà les intervencions basades en l'evidència que han demostrat augmentar de manera significativa les probabilitats de cessació, amb una atenció especial a les intervencions breus, i tractaments multicomponents (cognitivoconductuals i farmacològics).
