In a meeting held on May 5 and 6, researchers from Vall d'Hebron and the Italian center have exchanged knowledge to collaborate in different areas of research.
Collaboration between research centers is key to achieving the best results. With this aim, representatives and researchers from Vall d'Hebron and Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan (Italy) met in Barcelona on May 5 and 6 with the aim of promoting joint scientific projects.
This meeting took place in the context of the European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA), in which both centers participate. "This alliance, and specifically meetings like these, allow us to share experience in different fields of research", says Dr. Albert Salazar, manager of Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. "The relationship between centers allows us to publish more and better scientific articles, which is essential to have an impact on medicine", added Dr. Paolo Rotelli, president of Ospedale San Raffaele.
In the sessions, held in a hybrid face-to-face and online format, more than 50 researchers from Vall d'Hebron and San Raffaele presented some of their main lines of research. The presentations have opened the possibility for discussions among participants with the ultimate goal of finding common insights and opportunities for collaboration.
Among the topics discussed were preclinical and molecular imaging, global health and infectious diseases, medical devices and innovative surgical approaches in cardiology, molecular and cellular therapies in cancer, immunology and hematology, gene therapy for rare diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics.
