"Mobility, cognition and aging"

The seminar will summarize the most updated evidence from the work of Dr. Studenski and others in order to shed a light and suggest new research directions on the following issues:

1. Mobility and cognition are key to successful aging: are they related?
2. What is the role of the aging brain in this relationship?
3. What are the implications for prevention and treatment?
4. Which are the future directions in this area?

Dr. Stephanie Studenski, RN, MD, MPH, is a specialist in rheumatology and geriatric medicine, and one of the most prominent aging researchers in the USA and internationally. She built and directed the Pepper Older American Independence Center of the University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA, and served as the Director of the Longitudinal Studies Section of the National Institute on Aging, Baltimore, MD, USA. She authored more than 300 international scientific publications, including the relevant paper on “Gait Speed and Survival in Older Adults”, published by JAMA in 2011 and quoted in 2500 other articles to date.
