The SEN Awards 2019 recognize the contribution of Dr. Jorge Pagola, Dr. Miquel Vila and Dr. Patricia-Pozo Rosich in the field of neurological diseases.
The Spanish Society of Neurology (Sociedad Española de Neurología, SEN) has announced the winners of the 2019 SEN Awards, which are a recognition to professionals who contribute to the development of scientific information or to the social promotion of neurological diseases. Among the winners are Dr. Jorge Pagola, Dr. Miquel Vila and Dr. Patricia Pozo Rosich, all of them from the Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus.
Dr. Jorge Pagola is an adjunct physician in the Stroke Unit of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and principal investigator of the Stroke Research group of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and has received the SEN Award in the category of Stroke-Scientific Modality. He is also president of the Spanish Society of Neurosonology (SONES) and the award recognizes his initiative to accredit the training of neurologists in basic echocardiography thanks to a consensus with Cardiology.
Dr. Miquel Vila is head of the Neurodegenerative Diseases group of the VHIR and has been awarded in the category of Movement Disorders-Scientific Modality. The Board of Directors and SEN partners have awarded him for his contribution to understanding the etiopathogenesis of Parkinson's disease with publications in high-impact international journals.
Dr. Patricia Pozo Rosich is a specialist at the Neurology Service in Vall d’Hebron, head of the Headache and Neurological Pain group at VHIR and head of the Migraine Adaptive Brain Center of Vall d’Hebron. Her award, in the category of Headaches-Scientific Modality, values her leadership in research and innovation in headaches, the quality of her work and the fact of being the Spanish figure with the greatest international impact in this field.
