The Pediatrics Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital integrates various sections and units across specialized pediatric areas. We provide care from birth through adolescence. As part of Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, we facilitate the transition of pediatric patients to adult care within the same hospital campus.
Vall d’Hebron Children’s Hospital is one of the centers with the greatest capacity to manage complex pediatric conditions in Catalonia and across Spain. To carry out its clinical, teaching, and research activities, the Pediatrics Department has a staff of 62 board-certified pediatric specialists.
In addition, it is supported by dedicated nursing and administrative staff, as well as significant contributions from research and social work professionals, among others. The 60 pediatric residents and those in its subspecialty areas receive training and take part in clinical care during their rotations through the different units of the Department.
We provide care for all types of pediatric patients, from newborns to adolescents, with both acute and chronic conditions across the specialized areas mentioned above. The specific activity of each section and unit is described individually.
At Vall d’Hebron Hospital, there are 60 pediatric residents and residents in pediatric subspecialties, with 15 new residents per year. In recent years, Vall d’Hebron Pediatrics has been consistently ranked as the top choice among new residents, achieving the best results among Spanish hospitals in the 2017 national residency selection process.
