Sr. Sergi Velasco
Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology by Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, with a strong commitment to oncological research. My thesis project combines the development of oncological models with the research and development of new radiopharmaceuticals for the imaging-based diagnosis and treatment of various tumors using radioactive isotopes. Passionate about translational research and the impact of biotechnology in personalized medicine.
Curriculum
I completed a Master's in Molecular Biomedicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. For two years, I worked at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) in Madrid, conducting basic and translational research in the field of breast cancer. I also completed a training stay at the Spanish National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) in Madrid to study the role of metabolism in breast cancer development. Subsequently, I worked at the University of Miami (United States) under the supervision of Professor Ralf Paus.
By the end of 2023, I joined the Medical Imaging group at VHIR, led by Dr. Raul Herance, to pursue my doctoral thesis. My project focuses on developing new radiopharmaceuticals for personalized diagnosis using PET/CT technology, as well as treatment with radioactive isotopes for various pediatric and adult tumors.
