Paludismo

La malaria o paludismo (términos sinónimos: en países de habla inglesa se usa exclusivamente el término malaria) es una enfermedad infecciosa causada por un parásito tipo protozoo que se llama Plasmodium.

Se transmite a través de la picadura de los mosquitos del género Anopheles. El mosquito actúa como vector o transmisor de la enfermedad. Este mosquito pica al ser humano ya infectado. En su interior el parásito se reproduce y se desarrolla. Luego, vuelve a picar a otro ser humano al que a su vez vuelve a infectar.
