We are the combination of four hospitals: the General Hospital, the Children’s Hospital, the Women’s Hospital and the Traumatology, Rehabilitation and Burns Hospital. We are part of the Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus: a world-leading health park where healthcare plays a crucial role.

The week of March 19-23, a delegation of representatives of clinics belonging to the "Cluster of Clinical Excellence" of the Chamber of Commerce of Cali, Colombia, visited the Vall d'Hebron Campus. This visit was the final stage of an 18-month project carried out by the Innovation Unit of the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) to help these centers in the creation of their respective Innovation Units.
The delegation consisted of a dozen professionals from the Amiga Clinic, the Saluvité Foundation, the Javeriana Ophthalmology Clinic, the IPS Health Valley, the Valle del Lili Foundation and the Imbanaco Medical Center. Dr. Joan X. Comella, director of the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR); Francesc Iglesias, assistant to the Management of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, and Laia Arnal, head of the Business Development Department of the VHIR, welcomed them.
Throughout the day, through the different interventions of the professionals of the VHIR and the Hospital Vall d'Hebron, the delegation discovered the functioning of the Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Campus Hospitalari. Thus, visitors had the opportunity to learn about the process management model, comprehensive knowledge management and healthcare innovation, the promotion and management of clinical research, preclinical and clinical scientific-technical services, the business development strategy of the VHIR and the technology evaluation methodology. The day was completed with a visit to the Central Laboratories of Vall d'Hebron. During the week, the delegation also visited other centers, such as the Clinical Hospital, Biocat, the Parc Científic de Barcelona, the Agency for Competitiveness of the Company (ACCIÓ) and the Catalan Health Institute (ICS), and they were able to the operation of the Innòbics virtual community of the ICS.
This visit has been the final stage of an 18-month project carried out by the Innovation Unit of the VHIR. This project is called the Cluster of Clinical Excellence, and the Chamber of Commerce of Cali, five of the best clinics in Colombia and their respective research centers also participate. Thanks to the collaboration of the VHIR Innovation Unit, these clinics have successfully completed the creation of their respective Innovation Units, with the aim of managing their own ideas, projects, patents, technology transfer, know-how and services , through licensing or creation of spin off.
