As a reference centre in the public healthcare system, the ICS aims to improve the health and quality of life of the public by promoting healthy habits, the prevention of health problems and the by the treatment of diseases, from the most mundane to those requiring a more complex approach.
Along with this welfare activity, the ICS carries out intense research work, through the seven research institutes integrated into its hospital and primary care centres. This research is aimed at providing clinical solutions, in the hope that scientific results can lead to an improvement in people’s health. This is also the case with our teaching activity.
The ICS is a leader in the training of healthcare professionals in Catalonia. It is responsible for training 2,300 professionals from 51 different specialties in health sciences and 4,500 students in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry and other disciplines.
