Citizen’s Advice Service and Social Work
we listen and guide

We look out for your rights, provide a channel for improvements and offer all the information you will need, as well as offering help with bureaucracy. You will find a Citizen's Advice Office located in the main lobby of each of the three hospitals that make up the Vall d'Hebron Campus: the General Hospital; the Traumatology, Rehabilitation and Burns Hospital; and the Maternity and Children's Hospital.

Citizen’s advice service

We support you in your stay at the hospital, particularly on your first contact with the centre.

We offer accessible, direct and barrier-free service. We want you to feel supported when you need information (personal, medical or social) and that you enjoy absolute confidentiality.

At the Citizen’s advice service, we help you with any bureaucratic procedures you might have to carry out at the hospital, be it requesting a second opinion, offering thanks to staff who have helped you or filing a complaint.

We integrate patient opinions and offer a space for participation for the public.

Social work

Our goal as social health workers is to improve any unfavourable social environment that affects and aggravates a health problem. Above all, we help patients and their families to adapt to the new situation after an illness.

We act as a link between you and the hospital. We carry out coordination interviews with the healthcare team and detect any health needs as they arise when you return home. This means we can guarantee continuity of care once at home.

We also act in emergency situations, in coordination with social emergency teams, such as: gender violence teams or the General Directorate of Child and Adolescent Care in cases of child abuse.

Rights and duties of patients
We promote helpful, responsive and friendly dialogue, and respect your right to choose freely above all else. We also solve and correct adverse situations. Our mission is to ensure proper application of the Charter of Rights and Duties of the Public in Relation to Health and Healthcare Provision.

Spiritual Pastoral Care

Illness can affect all dimensions of a person: the physiological, the psychic, as well as the spiritual. Religious pastoral care for the sick is a service for patients and their relatives who wish to use it, and consists of facilitating a relationship of spiritual support. If you require this service, you should let a nurse know. The nurse will deal with your request.
